The evening will explore ideas of “foreign worlds,” cultural stereotypes, and Karl May’s legacy in today’s context. Artists, scholars, and guests from Canada will join the conversation.\nThe discussion will be moderated by Anne Ramstorf, a journalist with experience in the participatory Fishbowl format – a method that opens the conversation to audience contributions.Learn more about Fishbowl\nThe keynote speaker will be Prof. Dr. Christoph Vatter (University of Jena), who will provide insights into how social imaginations are formed – and how we can critically reflect upon them.\nQuestions to be explored:\n\n\nCan we still imagine foreign worlds as “freely” as in Karl May’s time?\n\n\nHow do cultural stereotypes continue to shape us today?\n\n\nWhat perspectives can Canadian artists bring to the Ore Mountains – and how might these foster new self-understandings within the region?\n\n\nThe evening will close with an informal exchange over a glass of Canadian wine.\n👉 The main language of the event will be English.
